121 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CHOWN, Donald Edgerton Donald was born on June 16, 1984 at Trenton, Ontario, the son of Samuel and Francis Chown. He had one year service with the No. 2 Coy Division signaling. He enlisted in the Army on March 1, 1916 in Parkhill, Ontario, joining the 135th Battalion. He sailed to England on the SS Olympic in August 1916. Donald served in France in March 1918, with the 38th Battalion. He was discharged on June 16, 1919. He belonged to Middlesex Light Infantry in February 1926 in London, Ontario. Donald passed away in 1961 and is buried at Saint James Cemetery in Clandeboye, Ontario. CLEMENS, Harry Harry was born on February 12, 1898 in Galt, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on April 23, 1918, joining the 64th Depot Battery CFA as a Gunner. He served in Canada during World War I. The war ended and Harry was discharged on January 1, 1919. Harry passed away on December 7, 1979 and is buried at Ravenswood Cemetery, a family cemetery. CLARK, Fred Fred was born in London, England on December 8, 1893. He was living in Thedford, Ontario and was a Salvation Army Minister. He enlisted in the Army on January 1, 1916 with the 149th Battalion. Fred trained with Thedford section before going to D Coy. He sailed on the SS Lapland on March 28, 1917 to Bramshott. After quarantine, he was part of the Lambton draft to 161st Battalion, then 47th Battalion. In 1918, Fred was wounded by shrapnel in the left arm and knee. He was sent back to England at 4 Gen Hospital, 6 Convalescent Depot. Later, Fred embarked at Liverpool in March back to Canada. He was discharged on February 12, 1919. He resided in Sarnia, Ontario. He was a Veteran army soldier and a soldier of salvation.
