139 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CUDDY, Sutherland Sutherland was born on November 2, 1887 in Toronto, Ontario. He was a lawyer living in Parkhill, Ontario. Sutherland had three years with the Middlesex Light Infantry. He enlisted in the Army on November 26, 1915, joining the 135th Battalion. He arrived in England in August 1916. Sutherland served in England, returned to Canada, and discharged in March 1919. He married Catherine Murphy and lived in Lincoln, Ontario. Sutherland passed away on March 21, 1961. DAGENAIS, Emile Denis Emile was born in Saskatchewan on October 11, 1943. He enlisted in the Navy on August 8, 1960. He did regular service and submarine training in Chatham, England. Emile served on the High Seas, in Canada and in England on HMCS Lauzon, HMCS Algonquin, HMCS Kootenay, HMCS Cormorant, HMS Osiris, HMCS Ojibwa, HMCS Onondaga and HMCS Okanagan. Emile was also a Cadet instructor. He was discharged on November 11, 1981. Emile is a 49-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion first with Branch 94 in British Columbia, transferring to Branch 638 in Kanata, Ontario where he has been residing since June 2015. CUNNINGHAM (ENNIS), Anna Isobel Anna was born in Brussels, Ontario on January 12, 1920. On April 15, 1943, she joined the Royal Canadian Air Forces as Leading Air Woman. Anna trained in Ottawa, Toronto and Rivers, Manitoba before sailing to England in July 1944 from Lachine, Quebec. Her duties included clerical work and Anna was stationed in London, Slough, and Torquay. She also completed paperwork for repatriated members of the military who were returning home to Canada after the war ended. She was discharged in May 1946 with the rank of Corporal. Anna returned to Canada on the ship Aquitania which had many war brides and their children as passengers. After her release from the RCAF, Anna married Ross Cunningham and raised their two children on a farm near Brussels, Ontario. She was a two-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Brussels Branch 218. Anna passed away on August 2, 2015.
