145 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DAVIDSON, Roy Lawrence Roy was born on May 13, 1930 in Brussels, Ontario to Tom and Margaret Davidson, along with three siblings: Ross, Larry and Audrey. He enlisted in the reserves on October 3, 1948 with the 54th LAA (Light Anti Aircraft) Royal Artillery and trained for civil defense against the possible war threats. He was discharged on April 20, 1951. He was employed at Swan Dust Control Ltd for most of his life. In his spare time, he enjoyed a hobby to the point that he became a Needle Point Artist. He joined The Royal Canadian Legion Waterloo Branch 530 on April 3, 1986 and has accumulated 35 years of membership. Roy is married to Lorraine Schmidt and they have six children: Debbie, Gwen, Janet, Leonard, Donald and John. Roy is presently enjoying his retirement life at Trinity Village in Kitchener and celebrated his 91st birthday on May 13, 2021. DAVIS, Carl Henry Carl was born in the Township of Hillsdale, Ontario, on September 3, 1888. On February 12, 1916, he enlisted in the Army in Coldwater, Ontario with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was 27 years old and single. He listed his trade as farmer and claimed previous military experience with the local militia unit, the 35th Simcoe Foresters. Private Davis sailed on the SS Cameronia to arrive in England on October 28, 1916. After getting some training in England, he landed in France on November 29, 1916, assigned to the 1st Canadian Infantry Battalion (Western Ontario Regiment). He served on the front lines with that unit until the end of the war and was awarded the Military Medal for bravery. He was repatriated to Canada and was discharged on April 23, 1919. DAVIES, Clifford Roy Clifford was born on September 3, 1927 in Portsmouth, England. On August 14, 1943, he enlisted with the Navy Fleet Air Arm and served in England duringWorld War II. He also served and Singapore during the Korean War. Clifford was discharged and transferred from regular Service to RN Emergency Reserve. He has been a resident of Ontario for over 35 years and is a 35-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Col. Fred Tilston VC, Branch 385 in Aurora, Ontario.
