153 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DeGUIRE, M. E. Roger Roger was born on December 26, 1940 in Windsor, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on November 2, 1962. He did Artillery basic training in Shilo, Manitoba, to 1 RCHA Gagetown, NB and 2 SSM Battery in Shilo. He was discharged on October 28, 1965. In 1993, he became a member of The Windsor Veterans Memorial Services Committee as Sergeant-at-Arms for 22 years until 2015, and is still a member of the committee, reporting all deaths of Veterans and Comrades and the Number of Veteran Services done. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 12, Branch 261 and Branch 578 for a total of 47 years. Roger retired from Chrysler Canada Windsor Assembly in 1988 with 28 years of service. DENSHAM, Francis Sydney “Frank” Frank was born November 6, 1921 in Torquay, Devonshire, England. Frank was a baby when his family moved to Canada, settling in Port Perry Ontario. In 1939, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces. Frank served with the First Canadian Signal Corp during World War II. His unit was attached to a British Platoon. While stationed in England, he met and married Joyce Bracey. He returned to Canada in 1945 with Joyce subsequently following, sailing to Canada as one of many war brides, arriving at Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Frank and Joyce settled in Oshawa, Ontario raising two sons, Alan and Mel. After the war, Frank was employed by General Motors, but decided to change his career to become a butcher which led to a promotion as meat department Manager at A & P Foods in Oshawa until his retirement. Frank passed away on September 17, 2006. DELLOW, David John David was born in Thedford, Ontario on September 22, 1898. He enlisted in the Army on April 8, 1916, joining the 1st Depot Battalion, SS Unit during World War I. David injured his hip while riding a horse which resulted in limping and an abscess. He was also hospitalized on October 27, 1916 with tonsilitis, on January 20, 1917 with the mumps, on October 18, 1918 with influenza, and had surgery on October 21, 1918. He was declared medically unfit and was discharged on November 4, 1918. David passed away on June 30, 1959 and is buried at Pinehill Cemetery in Thedford.
