165 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DUMAS, John Joseph Bernard John was born in Bourget, Ontario on June 9, 1934. He joined the Army in Ottawa, on January 19, 1956 and was part of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry division, stationed in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta. He later became a paratrooper and did his training in Shilo, Manitoba. He made many jumps and also participated in parades for dignitaries. In 1957, he married Irene and later had three sons. After his discharge from the Army, on February 19, 1959, he moved back to Quebec for a short time. In 1967, he and his family moved to Windsor, which became his home for the past 54 years. John joined The Royal Canadian Legion shortly after his discharge, first in Quebec then in Windsor. He belonged to Branches 143, 578, and 255. He was involved in fundraising for charities as a member of the 3rd and 4th Degree of The Knight of Columbus. John passed away on March 5, 2021. DUNCAN, Donald Sinclair Haig Donald was born on June 6, 1924 in Thomas’s Gore, Quebec. He enlisted in the Navy in 1941 during World War II serving with the RCNVR. He was aboard the HMCS Sioux participating in the D-Day Landings. He was awarded the Atlantic Star, 1939-1945 Star, War Medal 1939-1945, and the Canadian Volunteer Medal with Overseas Bar. Donald was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for forty years and was President of the Branch 94 in Greenfield Park and Branch 34 in Chambly. He lived in Vankleek Hill during the 1990s. Donald passed away on August 24, 2001. DUNCAN, Angus Louis Angus was born on June 23, 1922 in Thomas’s Gore, Quebec. He enlisted in 1939 during World War II adding one year to his age to join the Army to be with his brother. Angus served with the 2nd Canadian HAA in Canada, England, France, Holland, and Germany. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 212 in La Salle, Quebec and was a Charter Member and Life Member. He resided in Ottawa in the 1980’s. Angus passed away on November 27, 2015.
