167 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DUNCAN, Edwin Edwin was born on January 18, 1920 in Thomas Gore, Quebec. He enlisted with the Army Regular Force in 1940 and served with the 2nd Canadian HAA, Royal Canadian Artillery during World War II in Canada, England, France, and Holland. He was discharged in 1945. Edwin was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Overseas Bar, War Medal 1939-1945, 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star. Edwin passed away January 20, 1990. DUNCAN, James Malcom James was born on December 6, 1910 in Montreal, Quebec. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 during World War II. He served 28 months on the HMCS Llewellyn during which they destroyed 21 mines. He was awarded the Mentioned in Dispatches, Atlantic Star, 1939-1945 Star, War Medal 1939-1945 and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Overseas Bar. He was discharged in 1946 as a Chief Petty Officer. James was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 70 in Lachute, Quebec for 61 years and held the position of President. In the 1950’s, he resided in Vankleek Hill, Ontario. James passed away on October 10, 2003. DUNCAN, George George was born on March 15, 1912 in Montreal, Quebec. He enlisted in the Navy in 1940 serving during World War II with the RCNVR. He was aboard HMCS Skenna for the D-Day Landings and was selected to be one of Naval Representative for the 40th Anniversary in France. George was awarded the mentioned in Dispatches for his actions when HMCS Skenna went aground off the coast of Iceland in October 1944. He was discharged in 1945 as a Petty Officer and awarded the Atlantic Star, 1939-1945 Star, War Medal 1939-1945, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Overseas Bar. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch Oakville 486 for ten years. George passed away on February 6, 1992.
