169 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DUNCAN, John Young “Jock” John was born on March 25, 1913 in Montreal, Quebec. He enlisted in 1940 with the Army Regular Force and served with the 5th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery. John served during World War II in Canada, England, France, and Holland until his discharge in 1945. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Overseas Bar, War Medal 1939-1945, 1939-1945 Star and France and Germany Star. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 212 in LaSalle, Quebec for 35 years. John resided in Ottawa, Ontario during the 1980’s. He passed away on October 16, 1995. DUNN, John Hugh John was born in Windsor, Ontario on February 5, 1936. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1952 and served for approximately two years. While stationed in Ottawa, he met his wife Lila and after his discharge in 1954 they raised their four children together in Windsor. John worked at Chrysler for thirty years as an electrician and later as Plant Superintendent of Maintenance. John passed away on February 13, 2020 in Windsor at the age of 84. DUNHAM, George Benjamin George was born in Hatfield, England on January 1, 1869. He was living in Thedford where he worked as a carpenter. He enlisted in the Army on March 8, 1916 during World War I. He was found “fit” for his age and was assigned to D Coy. He transferred to 122 Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force and was found fit for forestry. George sailed to Liverpool on SS Olympic on June 9, 1917. He received the Good Conduct Medal. When his file was reviewed, he was found to be overage. George remained with 43 Coy. He returned to Canada and was discharged on March 21, 1919. He stayed in London, Ontario then returned to England.
