195 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND EVOY, Lawrence Owen Lawrence was born in Windsor, Ontario on September 30, 1943. He served in Peace Keeping Force in Cyprus under 2 Signal Squadron. He was discharged on April 6, 1965 and started his career at Chrysler for over 36 years. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 594 for over twenty years. He was awarded the Peacekeeping Medal in 1964. FAIR, Roy Nichols Roy was born in Londesborough, Ontario on May 17, 1894 and lived in Arkona. His father was Reverend Hugh Fair. Roy was educated at Exeter andWatford High School and went to college in Bellville. He enlisted in the Army in August 1914 and went over with the First Contingent, 1st Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. He served in France in February 1915 during World War I. Roy was killed in action at Givenchy on June 15, 1915. EVOY, Norman Norman was born in Coldwater, Ontario on October 27, 1889. On February 12, 1916, he enlisted in Coldwater with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was 26 years old and single. He listed his trade as farmer and claimed previous military experience with a local militia unit, the 35th Simcoe Foresters. Private Evoy sailed on the SS Cameronia to arrive in England on October 28, 1916. After getting some training in England, he landed in France on March 21, 1917, assigned to the 116th Canadian Infantry Battalion, part of the 3rd Canadian Division. Private Evoy served on the front lines with that unit until he was reported missing after action on September 29, 1918. He was confirmed as being wounded and Prisoner of War and returned to England after the Armistice. He sailed back to Canada and was discharged on March 22, 1919. He was a founding member of The Royal Canadian Legion Coldwater Branch 270 of the British Empire Service League when it received its charter in 1935. He later served with the Veteran’s Guard of Canada during World War II. Norman passed away on January 26, 1964 at the age of 75.
