31 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ALEXANDER, Earl Thomas Earl was born in Eden Grove, Ontario in 1897. He enlisted in January 1916, joining the 160th Battalion, 1st Canadian. He served in Canada, England and France during World War I. Earl arrived in England on the SS Metagama on October 28, 1916 and in France in March 1918. He was discharged inApril 1919. Earl and his family resided in Thedford, Ontario and he worked as an apiarist. He was known as the Honeyman. Earl passed away in 1971 and is buried at Pinehill Cemetery in Thedford. ALLISON, Kenneth Edwin Kenneth was born on July 20, 1920, in Welland, Ontario. He enlisted with the Army on November 28, 1944, with the Queen’s Own Rifle Canada Infantry and was stationed in Halifax, Nova Scotia and in Holland. He was discharged on February 2, 1946. After the war, Kenneth worked at Canada Forging Ltd inWelland for 29 years. He loved to roller skate, play darts at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 4 in Welland. He loved his bird Willie and often hit the open road on his motorcycle. Ken was tragically killed at a work accident at fifty years of age on October 15, 1969. He left behind his wife Joan A. and his daughter Joan her husband Paul and two grandchildren David and Katherine. ALLAN, Garnet Wilson “Pete” Pete was born in Huron County on November 30, 1921 and resided in Hensall, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 and served in Canada with the Infantry. Upon discharge in 1945, Pete returned to Hensall where he married Donna Shiels and they raised a family of six children. Trucking was his occupation for most of his life. He filled the position of President, Executive and bartender at the Hensall Branch 468 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Pete passed away on June 20, 1984.
