33 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ALLISON, Milton R. Milton was born on April 25, 1897 in McGillivray Township near Ailsa Craig. He was the son of William and SarahAllison. He joined the Canadian Infantry (Central Ontario Regiment) in 1916. Milton served in Canada, England, and France. On November 1, 1918, Milton passed away from influenza and pneumonia at the London War Hospital and is buried at Epson Cemetery in Surrey, England. His name is on the West McGillivray War Memorial. ANDREWS, Douglas Frederick “Doug” Doug was born in Clinton, Ontario on July 1, 1925. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy on March 25, 1943. He served on gunnery and signals on DEMS, Defensively Equipped Merchant Ships, until his discharge on October 26, 1945. He served on the Philip P. Dodge, the Fontaine Park and the Yamaska Park. The ships made supply runs of ammunition and food to troops in Burma, Calcutta, Bombay, Karachi and Ceylon. Further runs were made to England, Newcastle on the Tyne, and Africa. He was in Alexandria, Egypt on VE Day and his ship also pulled into Bari, Italy. Doug was discharged on October 25, 1945. He was member of The Royal Canadian Legion Clinton Branch 140 for 72 years as well President, Zone Commander and a member of District C 1 Executive. He was also past President of the DEMS Division of the Royal Canadian Naval Association from 1991 to 1992. Doug passed away on February 16, 2018. ANDERSON, Cecil Cecil was born on May 16, 1926 in Scotland. He enlisted with the Army and served with the Cape Breton Highlanders during World War II. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Sutton Branch 356 for 55 years. Cecil passed away on June 14, 1995.
