37 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ARBOUR, Wilfred Wilfred was born in February 1919, in Victoria Harbour, Ontario. He enlisted with the Army in 1942, serving with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps during World War II in Holland. Wilfred was discharged in 1945. After returning home to Port Robinson, he bought property and built a house. He worked at Standard Steel and became a Volunteer Fire Fighter. He was involved in many local activities as well as a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Fonthill Branch 613. Wilfred passed away on March 18, 1991. ARNOLD, William George William was born in Toronto, Ontario on December 7, 1940. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1957 to 1966. He was sent to Saint Jean, Quebec for basic training in 1957 and trade training at Camp Borden, Ontario in 1957-1958. Between 1958 and 1961, he was stationed in Comox, British Columbia as Air Frame Technician. He took his crewman course in North Bay, Ontario in 1958 and went to Metz, France in 1962 as a radar tech. Later, he was at CFB Beausejour in Manitoba in maintenance. In 1963, he took Radar Tech Training and Computer Tech Training in Clinton, Ontario and in 1964, went to Keesler US Air Force Base in Mississippi for further technical training. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Owen Sound Branch 6 for 54 years. William passed away on March 26, 2020. ARMSTRONG, William Henry William was born on June 26, 1893 in Stephen Township, Ontario, the son of Robert and Margaret Armstrong. William belonged to the 26th Middlesex Infantry for one year. He enlisted in the Army on January 24, 1916 in Parkhill, Ontario and joined the 135th Battalion. He sailed to England in August 1916 on the SS Olympic then transferred to the 125th Battalion. He served in France with the 38th Battalion in April 1918 and was wounded on September 4, 1918. He came home on the Aquitania and was discharged in June 1919. William married Helen Rickhorn. He passed away in 1952 and is buried at the Grand Bend United Church Cemetery.
