57 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BEER, John John was born in Hensall, Ontario on March 23, 1926. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1945. He held a variety of positions in the RCAF such as teaching Morse code, mechanics, driving, etc. John and his wife, Lillian, lived in Hensall (while he was serving) where they raised their three sons of whom one is a retired RCMP member. During his tenure with the Royal Canadian Air Force, he passed away of surgery complications in London, Ontario in 1975. He had attained the rank of Captain. BELL, Charles Joseph Charles was born on May 22, 1902 in Toronto, Ontario. He was a sapper in the Army, Engineering Corps in Europe from September 27, 1943 to April 20, 1945. He was wounded and as a result was unable to meet the required physical standards. Charles passed away on April 25, 1975. His body was donated to the Science Centre in Toronto. There are two people that have his eyes, one each. BEERMAN, Earl Earl was born on July 27, 1931 in Erin Township, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in August 1950 and served with Special Force 16 in Canada, the United States of America, and Korea. He was discharged on February 25, 1952. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Acton Branch 197 for 47 years. Earl passed away on February 12, 2011.
