69 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BOAG, William David William was born on July 25, 1897 in Queensville, Ontario. He enlisted with the Army Regular Forces on April 28, 1916 serving with the 4th Battalion Canadian Infantry. He served during World War I in England and France. He embarked on the HMT Metagama from Halifax on January 15, 1917 and disembarked in Liverpool on May 14, 1917. William was killed in action on August 9, 1918 in Amiens, France, at the age of 21. BOERSEN, John Simon John was born in Barneveld, Holland on October 30, 1932 to Joannes and Antonia Boersen along with twelve siblings, two of his brothers also served in the army. In 1972, John joined the army in Holland and was assigned to the Special Green Berets and served in NATO postings throughout Holland. During his service he was very involved with the 1973 disaster flooding in Holland which claimed 1,850 lives. John was discharged in 1974 with the rank of Sergeant. John raised five children and immigrated to Canada in 1976 obtaining a job in Quebec on a dairy farm. After three years, he purchased his own farm and remained in farming until retirement. He joined The Royal Canadian Legion Waterloo Branch 530, loves playing cards and presently lives in Kitchener with his wife Wilhemina Van Doorn. BOAGS, Robert Oram Robert was born in Ayrshire, Scotland on November 3, 1899. He enlisted in the Army around 1917 and served in England during World War I. At the age of 27, Robert came to Canada after the war making his way to Montreal and later moving to Mount Albert, Ontario. He married and had a family. Robert passed away on August 30, 1986 and is buried in Mount Albert Cemetery.
