99 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CLARK, Fred Maurice Fred was born in Inchkeith, Saskatchewan on July 10, 1920. He was the eighth of ten children in a pioneering farm family. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Regina on May 16, 1941, and was discharged as a corporal on September 4, 1945. After training in St. Thomas, Ontario as an air mechanic, he served overseas in the United Kingdom from November 1941 to December 1944 in Squadron 407 Coastal Command during World War II. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Maple Leaf Emblem. After the war, he elected to take the educational veterans’ benefit graduating from Guelph University as a Veterinarian. He married in Saskatoon shortly thereafter, raising two sons and six daughters. After years in private veterinary practice and time at the University of Saskatchewan, he joined the Federal Agriculture and moved with his family to Ottawa. He was killed in a car accident on November 24, 1985, near Metcalfe, Ontario. His wife, 85, still resides in Ottawa. CODY, Douglas Gordon “Doug” Douglas was born in Ottawa, Ontario on February 24, 1958. He enlisted in the Army (Reserve Force) and joined the 703 Signal Regiment (Reserve) in June 1975 as a teletype and radio operator. He was stationed at CFS Carp (The Diefenbunker) from July to August 1976 and July 1977 to April 1978. He served in Egypt with UNEF II from January to July 1979. Doug retired in August 1979 at the rank of Corporal. He then rejoined in April 1997 to 763 Signals Regiment (Res) as a Signals Operator. He was involved with Ice Storm (1997) and Op Abacus (1999). He received the Canadian Forces Decoration in 2006 and retired as Master Corporal in May 2008. Doug is a 37-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Westboro Branch 480. CLARK, Lloyd F. Lloyd was born on June 2, 1919 in Epson, Ontario and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force to serve during World War II. After the war, he was a cabinet maker and was a member of Port Perry Legion Branch 419. Lloyd passed away on April 26, 1991.
