147 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND FARLIE, Herbert S. Herbert was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on July 20, 1922. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in 1938 with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps as a boy soldier. He was involved in equipment procurement and testing and was in Churchill, and Minnesota with a group testing winter clothing. Herb was promoted through the ranks to W/O II. He served for twelve years and was discharged in 1950. He moved to Bala, Ontario where he purchased a gas station, motel, and cottages for rental. He operated his business until his passing on December 16, 2021. Herbert received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-1945. FAULKNER, Robert O. Robert was born in Ottawa, Ontario on July 21, 1933. He enlisted in the Army on August 1, 1951, and served during the Korean War. He was discharged on August 21, 1954. Robert is a 34-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 480. FARQUHARSON, James James was born in August 1885 in Aberlour, Scotland. After enlisting in 1914, he served in Canada and France with the 18th Battery Canadians, Company “A”, Platoon #1, Section 4. Regimental Sergeant Major fought in the Battle of Vimy Ridge before he was discharged in 1918. James passed away around October 1967.
