91 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CARTER, Thomas James Thomas was born on November 5, 1895, in Montreal, Quebec. He enlisted in the Army to be part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force serving inWorldWar I. After his initial training, he was assigned to the 1st Quebec Regiment. After his service, Thomas was discharged at the rank of Corporal and was awarded the British War Medal 1914-1918. He passed away on January 4, 1957, at the age of 62. He was a resident of Ontario, however date and city are unknown. CASKANETTE, John A. A. John was born in Riverdale, Ontario on August 9, 1923. He was employed at the Knechtel Kitchen Kabinet Ltd. before he enlisted in May 1941 at the age of 17. John went overseas in October 1942 and was transferred to the Royal Canadian Regiment. He was killed in action on July 25, 1943 in Sicily. CASKANETTE, Edward P. Edward was born on May 2, 1913, in Munising, Michigan, USA. He came from a family of 15 brothers and sisters and worked as a mechanic before, during and after the war. Edward joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on July 9, 1941 and served as a Leading Aircraftman in Canada, Goose Bay and Iceland. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the General Service Medal with Clasp. After his honourable discharge on October 2, 1945, Edward and his wife Mary raised a family of ten children. He was a member of Woodstock Legion Branch 55 before he passed away on February 2, 2001.
