157 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND KEAST, John R. John was born in Guelph, Ontario on April 9, 1923. He joined the Army on September 3, 1941 and served with the 63rd Battery, 19th Field Regiment, in Canada and England. Awarded the 1939-45 Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, he was discharged on October 28, 1945. John, a famous artist, passed away on June 22, 2011. He was a member of Bruce Mines Legion Branch 211 for seventeen years. KENNEDY, Owen A. Owen was born on February 28, 1931 in Montreal, Quebec. He enlisted on January 23, 1951 and served in Canada, the United States and Korea with 23 FD Squadron, RCE. He was attached to British 64 FD, Park Regiment, and his unit’s role was to build imitation Hessian tanks to draw fire from North Korea to identify the enemy’s location. Owen was discharged on January 23, 1957. He has been a member of Port Perry Legion Branch 419 for twenty-four years. KELLY, Evelyn A. Evelyn was born in Smiths Falls, Ontario and after studying nursing in Toronto, joined the Canadian Forces Medical Services Reserves as a Nursing Officer at 25 Toronto Medical Company in 1978. She rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and Commanding Officer by 1992. After command, she moved to 32 CBG HQ as Brigade Medical Advisor and later to LFCA as Reserve Medical Advisor before retiring on January 27, 2005. Evelyn worked in Radiation Sciences at the University of Toronto and the Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences for 30 years before moving to the Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences as an Advanced Practice Instructor throughout Ontario. She is a member of Fort York Legion Branch 165 and Past National President of the Last Post Fund.
