81 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND COX, James N. James was born in Erieau, Ontario on April 19, 1920. He joined the Canadian Navy in 1944 and served on HMCS Stadacona, Hamilton and Bittersweet as a Stoker. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star and one other medal which he can’t identify. He sailed on the Great Lakes onboard freighters for 25 years, ultimately becoming a marine engineer. On March 21, 2006, he passed away due to kidney failure after living his final five years at Parkwood Hospital in London, Ontario. He was a member of Blenheim Legion Branch 185 for sixty-two years. CURRY (YOUNG), Joan Joan was born on January 17, 1922 in England. She joined the Air Force and served during World War II. She was a member of Gore Bay Legion Branch 514. COX, William William was born on September 7, 1917. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as a Flying Officer in Canada and in the United Kingdom during WWII. He was a member of Simcoe Legion Branch 79 for thirty-six years before he passed away on December 4, 1989.
