Take the Tour to Remember
Every second year (in the odd numbered years) Ontario Command Branches participate in the Pilgrimage of Remembrance Program. The program, a tour of Canadian memorials and war graves in Europe, is organized by the Royal Canadian Legion Dominion Poppy & Remembrance Committee/the Legion National Foundation.
Applications are received from Branch Members across Ontario. When reviewing each application, the following factors shall be recognized:
- Must be the age of majority;
- Must be a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, and possess proper Legion dress for ceremonies conducted while on the pilgrimage;
- Must be active in a Legion Branch, youth education committee, and other community activities, e.g. teachers, instructors, coaches, committee chair, Cadets, etc.
- Must attach a separate document outlining post pilgrimage activities, specifically, how you would expect to relate your pilgrimage experience to youth groups, Legion branches, the media, and other organizations in your communities upon your return. These individuals must also be able to develop their own video or slide presentation and provincial commands are to determine the expectations for presentation.
The successful provincial candidate will be selected from among the qualified applicants. Final approval rests with the Dominion Poppy & Remembrance Committee/the Legion National Foundation.
For more information, we encourage you to contact your local Branch, or the Ontario Command Office.
