Ron Goebel
Provincial Chair
Comrade Ron is an active 43-year Member of the Captain A. Roy Brown Branch 192 in Carleton Place.
- Currently serving his second 3-year term as Chair of Ontario Command. He was Vice-Chair of Ontario Command from 2007 through to 2017.
- Was appointed Chair of the Ontario Command Military Service Recognition Book in 2009 and continues in this capacity.
- Held the positions of Chair and Vice-Chair of the Dominion Command's Ritual, Awards and Protocol Committee 2002 to 2019.
- Held various Executive positions at every level within The Legion including three terms as a Branch President, Chair of Zone G-6, Zone G-6 Commander and District G Commander.
- Has held many volunteer positions on various committees within his community.
- Served as a Police Officer for four years, with most of his working life spent within the newspaper industry as a reporter, photographer, editor and various executive positions.
- Receive his Life Membership in 1996; his MSM in 2002 and the Palm Leaf in 2009. Queens Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002, Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012. Governor General’s Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers in 2016 and Citizen of the Year, for the Town of Carleton Place in 2000.
- 55 years married to his wife Barb, and has a daughter Cathy, a son Brad that predeceased him and one grandchild. He enjoys all sports including a little golf, travel and wintering in warmer climates.
